Earth Day

On April 22, Earth Day is celebrated. Washington DC has numerous events to help us remember and commemorate our connection and dependence upon the earth and promote environmental awareness. These events take place all throughout the month of April at different landmarks such as the National Zoo and Botanic Garden.

Washington National Cathedral Flower Mart

On Friday, May 4th, you can tour the Washington National Cathedral and climb the 333 steps to the top, enjoy the 59 acres of lushly tended grounds and flowers. The festival is a must for all gardening enthusiasts and includes numerous activities for children. The architectural features of the cathedral are stunning. It is the 6th largest cathedral in the world, with over 200 stained glass windows.

Mount Vernon Spring Wine Festival and Sunset Tour

On May 18th, 19th, and 20th, from 6 to 9 p.m. you can tour the mansion at Mount Vernon while enjoying some of Virginia’s finest wines. There will be a live jazz band, and George and Martha may even show up!

Around the World Embassy Tour

On May 5th, many embassies in Washington DC will open their doors to visitors and you can experience some of the native cuisine, music, dance, and art of the different countries of the world.

Monuments by Moonlight Tour

Visit the many monuments in Washington DC by moonlight, including the FDR Memorial, the Martin Luther King Memorial, and the Lincoln Memorial. See some of the places where history has been made.

Catch a Major League Baseball Game

The Washington Nationals have spring training games every year in March. Head out to the ballpark and enjoy America’s National Pastime. The regular season home opener is April 5th against the New York Mets, and after that the action is nonstop!
